The Castells de Castelló tourist-cultural project aims to enhance the value of some of the most important historical and heritage elements in the province. There are more than forty castles that dot our geography, located in mountains, plains and coasts, both inside and outside urban areas, in better and worse conditions, but each and every one of them had a fundamental role in the conquest of the Kingdom of Valencia. Alto palencia

Located in the east of the region, between the municipalities of Chóvar and Soneja, Azuebar has the ruins of its eponymous rock castle on the top of a hill, overlooking the Palancia valley. Built in the 12th century, it was used as a fortress during the Muslim period and later modified during the Christian period.
